Yora Games Team
Lumenshard Team

Hello adventurers, and welcome.

After multiple years of quiet, passionate development behind the scenes, we are incredibly excited (and admittedly a little nervous) to announce that Lumenshard MC is officially entering Open Alpha!

To be completely transparent: as developers, it always feels like a project is being launched a little too soon. There is so much more we want to build. But we've reached a critical tipping point. We've been developing in a vacuum for a long time, and without real player feedback, we're just guessing at what works. We need your eyes, your bug reports, and your honest critiques to help us shape the future of this world.

Whether you're here to test our systems, break our economy, or potentially join our team to help build this project, we are incredibly grateful to have you.

Here is everything you need to know before stepping into the world of Lumenshard.

The Lore: Waking Up in Limbo

When you log into the server for the very first time, you will spawn into our main hub: The Meridian Fair.

In the lore of Lumenshard, the Meridian Fair is a sprawling, supernatural carnival located in a mystical place called Janattari. Your character is essentially reborn here. To claim your life back and step into the living world, you must seek out the central fountain and step through it. From there, your journey truly begins.

Two Unique Gameplay Pathways

Once you pass through the fountain, large, colorful signage will guide you toward distinct playstyles. We want Lumenshard to cater to different moods and time commitments, so you can choose the path that fits your day:

  • The Overworld (The Core MMORPG Experience): This is our persistent, interconnected SMP/MMORPG world. You will explore handcrafted Adventure Levels, establish towns with your Guilds in the Heartlands, explore procedurally generated Troves and Dungeons, tackle handcrafted quests, defeat unique enemies, and level up your skills.
  • The Homestead (Risk-Free Building): If you just want a cozy, quiet space to build, craft, and relax, you can claim a Homestead. These are small, completely protected plots of land entirely free from enemy risks, but they carry all of the progress you make in the Overworld with you.
  • Dreamfarers (Rogue-like PvE Dungeon Running): If you are short on time and just want immediate, fast-paced action, step through the Dreamfarers gate. This is a low-risk, rogue-like mini-game environment designed to get you straight into player-versus-entity combat without the travel time.

The Alpha Rules: Fast Progression, Low Risk

Because this is an early, feature-incomplete technical demo, we're adjusting traditional survival stakes to prioritize aggressive testing.

⚠️ Expect the Unexpected: Balance will be rough, certain features are incomplete, and you should expect frequent server restarts over the next few weeks as we patch bugs on the fly. This is a true experimental Alpha, and a world/progress wipe will happen before the official launch. (Alpha participants will earn permanent prestige rewards and unique recognitions that carry over!)

To keep testing fast and fluid, we have implemented the following phase adjustments:

  • No Inventory Loss: While our ultimate goal is a gritty, high-risk/high-reward survival environment, death carries no risk of item loss during the Alpha.
  • 5× XP Boost: To help you reach end-game content faster (and help us balance late-game mechanics), all progression and RPG experience rates are boosted .
  • 10× Loot Drops: Mob loot drop rates are boosted 10× to speed up build testing.
  • A Single Heartland at Launch: To prevent fragmenting the player base across our massive spaces, all players will be localized in a single Heartland: Ithero.

What to Test First

If you want your time to have the biggest impact on development, point your weapons and focus toward these core systems:

  • Guilds & Land: Establish a Guild and claim land in the Heartlands. This is core to our infrastructure, and we want to see it stress-tested.
  • Max-Level PvP: Take Level 30 (max) PvP for a spin in the Heartlands. Push the combat to its limits and help us find the imbalances.
  • Character Building: Level up and customize your build through the Skill Tree and Attribute Points. Experiment with wild combinations.
  • Group Play (Party Up): Form Parties and join/leave Dungeon and Trove instances together, including Dreamfarers runs. Multiplayer instancing is a huge area where we need eyes.

Current Scope & Intentional Limitations

Some systems are intentionally limited, locked, or stripped back for this phase. These are scoped-down on purpose and are not bugs:

  • Scoped-Down Content: We are launching with 4 Adventure Levels (3 with spawn regions fully set up so far), a single overworld Dungeon, and a single Resource Trove.
  • Limited Crafting: Only 5 out of 18 planned assembly and workstations are available. The vast majority of our 200/800+ items and resources are not yet obtainable.
  • Guild-Gated Building: In the Heartlands, building is strictly tied to Guild-owned land to encourage forming and joining communities.
  • The Rite of Ascension: Our dedicated PvP Arena is closed for now.
  • No Crash Recovery Yet: If you lose connection (server- or client-side), progress inside any instanced environment will be lost. We know this stings; rejoin support is actively on our roadmap and represents one of our biggest focus points.
  • Moderation Tools: Hardened moderation tools are not yet implemented as we are still actively building out our staff team.

A Command-Free Experience

We believe you should spend your time playing Minecraft, not memorizing text commands. We've put an immense amount of effort into a completely custom, seamless UI.

Everything you need—from your RPG skills and character attributes to party management and Guild settings—is accessible directly through your standard player inventory. Just press 'E', click the custom button in the top-right corner, and navigate our menus with your mouse. We're fiercely committed to keeping Lumenshard a command-free experience.

How to Report New Bugs

Found something that isn't on the know or report bug lsits in our Discord? That is absolute gold to us.

Head over to #bug-reports on our Discord server. A quick note on what happened, where it happened, and how to reproduce it goes a long way. Please try to follow our pinned bug post guidelines so it routes cleanly to the dev team.
