Lumenshard - Fort Ruvalad Dungeon

From the team

Hey everyone! Another big one. Thank you to everyone who has been playing, testing, and sending in bug reports during Open Alpha. So much of what follows came straight from your feedback.

What's Included in the latest update

New Dungeon & Boss: Fort Ruvalad

Fort Ruvalad is now open for playtesting, and it comes with a brand new boss: the Bone Hulk Cannoneer. Gather your party and see what waits inside. Heads up: the surrounding Remilico Estuary area has not been updated yet, so that part is still to come, but the dungeon is accessible now in the basement of the ruined fort near the center of the eastuary.

Combat and the Threat System

The threat system has been completely rebuilt. Every hostile action toward a mob now generates threat, including dealing damage, blocking their attacks, and healing your allies.

  • Threat-based nodes have been added to skill trees, and more abilities now interact with threat
  • Armor damage calculations have been adjusted
  • We will keep a close eye on threat and tune it as group strategies develop and you spot issues

Skills and Abilities

Skill trees have been completely overhauled, with new nodes and a balance pass across many abilities

  • Two new Resonance abilities: a single target burst heal and a single target heal over time (more balance and lore details coming soon)
  • Command Bannerlord has been rebuilt. Command banners now grant their benefits across all color variations, with more tooltip explanations on the way
  • Guile Confounding concoctions now translate into significantly more healing
  • Several Guile healing abilities have been nerfed significantly, as they were heavily overtuned
  • Characters building Wisdom now deal scaling sound damage (instead of projectile damage) with bows and crossbows. Wisdom/Dex scaling always picks whichever calculation is best for you
  • Tuning rods now heal the proper amount instead of a flat 1
  • Shared Devotion (Resonance) now shows the correct visual on your linked partner
  • Piercing Tone is no longer incorrectly marked as a Resonant ability

‍

‍

Dungeons and Loot

  • Dungeon chests in LMC dungeons are now instanced per player. Everyone gets their own chests, so nobody can sweep up your loot
  • Parties can now enter dungeons together. The first player in opens a lobby, and the rest of the party can join it (or choose to play solo) before heading in together
  • All LMC dungeon bosses now scale their difficulty to the number of players in the fight
  • LMC dungeon bosses encountered outside their boss arena now have adjusted stats
  • Mobs now drop loot based on their own level rather than yours. This is a pure upside, since loot was already withheld from underleveled kills
  • Dungeon coin piles now correctly grant yora
  • Breakable pots in LMC dungeons have been reworked and no longer all drop Somnus Dust
  • Cleaned up leftover dev blocks and improved lighting across several dungeon tiles
  • Known issue: some corpses may still have drop table and spawning issues

Potions and Healing

  • Health potions now properly enforce their cooldowns and come in 6 tiers. Higher tiers heal more and hold more drinks per bottle
  • New: 6 tiers of Purify and Cleanse potions for removing Afflictions and CC effects. Use the tier that matches your level for best results
  • Tier appropriate Health, Purify, and Cleanse potions can spawn in dungeon chests, and Health potions may also turn up on tables and shelves inside dungeons. Grab them and drink up!
  • Healing indicators have been moved somewhere easier to see

‍

‍

Mobs and Balance

  • Mobs designed to be fought in groups now award appropriate bonus experience
  • Minions no longer grant experience or count as full mobs
  • All Custodian minions have been rebalanced
  • Spectral mobs (outside of Custodian encounters) have received a full rework
  • Kanqan Mouse health now sits below Lieqo mobs, restoring proper level progression
  • Odikin beetles are back in their spawn regions after going missing in the recent mob migration

Sights and Sounds

  • We have finished refactoring more of our mobs. Every skeleton type, including Infantry, Brutes, and the new Bone Hulk, now has brand new sound effects
  • Skeleton Infantry no longer squeak while idling
  • New VFX have arrived, including ground impacts, explosions, and a variety of others. You will see them on several abilities as well as mob animations and effects

Dreamfarers

  • Fixed bugs that stopped parties from playing Dreamfarers together. A few death and spectator bugs remain on our known issues list
  • Dreamfarers bosses have been reworked and can no longer be taken down in a single hit
  • Dreamfarers mobs no longer incorrectly use LMC stat blocks and experience values
  • Known issues: Dreamfarers armor is substantially undertuned, mob health is far too low (especially early on), and skeletons are much too fast. Fixes are on the way
  • Heads up: Dreamfarers skill acquisition is getting a significant revamp soon. Expect a few bugs in the meantime, and stay tuned!

Chat, Troves, and Social

  • Global chat now flows both ways across instances. Players inside Troves and dungeons can be heard outside again, not just hear everyone else
  • Inside Troves, chat messages show who sent them again, and the Tab menu displays rank prefixes and tags properly

Homesteads

  • You can now open the settings menu and reset your homestead from inside your homestead instance

Quality of Life

  • Quest compass and sidebar visibility can now be set in the settings menu: on, off, or conditional based on combat
  • The settings menu now clearly shows which option is currently selected
  • Crafting Station upgrades have moved to their own dedicated menu, making upgrades much smoother. More improvements are coming in future updates
  • Quest noticeboards have their backplates back
